Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom has dominated
Race 7 of the V8 Supercars Championship today, winning by 3.2s over
Jamie Whincup.
After a promising start to the day for David Reynolds, which
saw him run as high as third after the opening laps, his pace
slipped off towards the end of the 50-lap race. Unlike
Winterbottom, Reynolds opted for a soft to hard compound tyre
strategy, which proved to be the less rewarding option by the
completion of the race.
FPR Team-mate Will Davison had a less fortunate day after
being involved in a racing incident on the final turn of lap 1 when
he was hit from behind by another competitor. The hit speared
Davison into Garth Tander, who had spun ahead, puncturing his front
left Dunlop tyre and breaking the front left suspension arm on his
FPR Ford. Fortunately his crew scrambled together, fixed the damage
and sent Davison back out to finish the race and secure 20 valuable
championship points.
